In November of 2010, Washington County and more importantly the City of St. George will have a full functioning commuter airport to replace our municipal airport we have now. The new airport will be able to accommodate larger commercial airlines and will have a 34,000 square ft, 2-story terminal and have its own fueling facility. This new airport will be designed with the newest ?all-weather´ instrument equipment for all incoming flights. The runway will be 9,300 ft long and consists of one partial general aviation taxiway and one full commercial taxiway 150 ft wide.

With this new airport in the heart of St. George, it will make Washington County an easier destination to visit or to be able to leave and visit other cities and towns that would normally have you driving to Vegas for a flight out. The new airport will help boost the economy and the population growth here in St. George.

Just over 40 miles Northeast of St. George is the City of Springdale which is the gateway to Zion National Park. Just a little bit further Northeast from St. George at about 135 miles is Bryce Canyon National Park. For the more adventurous hikers take a drive about 280 miles southeast to the beautiful Grand Canyon and hike or campout there for a weekend.
